I have a 2-year old Sony Vaio laptop - VGN AW4 ZRF, with an ATA Toshiba MK5055GS internal Hard Drive.I can boot into normal mode but have to delete MININT text on every start up.

I managed to reproduce your problem and resolve it with the commands: bcdedt set optionsedit yes bcdedit deletevalue optionsedit so try the second of those. The second option, bcdedit set optionsedit No, worked perfectly. Maybe F5 or shift ot something else is making the OS to say this message.
